rock what you got

Secretly…I really like this song.

the biggest change…

When I decided to go on my journey of losing 100lbs I did it purely for me.  I was tired of being tired.  I was tired of eating, and eating and feeling horrible.  It’s funny because now I’ve got people asking me how I did it and if I feel any different.  I feel a lot different honestly.  I can run up flights of stairs without getting winded.  Heck I can even walk up 8-12 steps without getting winded.  I have more energy.  I am proud of myself – which I haven’t been in a while.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel – knocking off another 50-60 by summer.

So what’s the biggest change?

My wardrobe or lack of it.  I have spent the past few days doing a deep clean of the clothes I can no longer wear because they are too big.  I’ve got four 55 gallon trash bags full of clothes to give to Goodwill now.  So now my problem isn’t not having clothes because they are too small.  Now my problem is not having clothes to wear because everything is too big and needs to be thrown out.  It’s a great feeling.  I kept some things from a few years ago that I really liked and they fit pretty good back then.  Now they are baggy on me.  My clothes are the biggest change.

I’ve got enough to get me through until March I think.  March should be when I hit my second goal and can actually buy clothes for the long haul.  It will be so nice.  I am not looking forward to actually buying a whole new wardrobe either.  My rough guess is that it will be $1k-$1500 (at the least) since I’ll be buying dress clothes and everything.  Clothes are expensive.  Good thing I can do it in short bursts.

charlie bit me: autotune

Auto-tuning has become pretty big within the music world.  Especially within the hip-hop and R&B genres.  This video made me laugh pretty good.

I know what you’re thinking, “I saw this post title over at Tim Schmoyer’s site.  Yes you did.  I ripped it off of him!  Actually I was able to be part of a collaboration of some other great guys in youth ministry to help write the post.  Instead of posting some it here I want you to go to his site and read it.  It’s a great post!

burning bibles

I think we need to pray for the Amazing Grace Church.  I found this video through Mark Cox.

the greatest play so far…

Whether you are a Favre fan or not – this is incredible.  And the receiver (Greg Lewis?) who came into the game because of an injury to their starter.  Wow.

do i lead worship like this?

Seriously.  Wow.

a roadtrip…

This past Friday I had the privilege of going to the final court hearing of my nieces adoption.  On the way back from Burlington on Saturday we (myself, Jordan, Abe and Carl) played disc golf and did some site seeing on the way back to Newell.  It was a long day.  We set out at 10am and got home a little past midnight.  It was a blast though.

We played 72 holes of disc golf from Thursday-Saturday.  We also made some other random stops along the way.

Friday it rained all morning so instead of playing disc golf we went to Fun City.  Below are some pics of Fun City.

We bowled at King Pins.

We rode the indoor go-karts at the Zoom and played some video games at the Arcadium in Fun City as well.

Saturday morning we left Burlington and did some site seeing as well as some disc golfing.

This first picture is of Snake Alley in Burlington.  Snake Alley is the “crookedest street in the world.”  You can’t go to Burlington and not go down Snake Alley…we did it 3 times.

While we were in Fairfield Carl and I were trying to tell Jordan and Abe about the Maharishi people and their dome of levitation.  They wouldn’t believe us.   So since we were in Fairfield we drove by the campus.

This is Maharishi ‘Dome of Pure Knowledge and Enlightenment.’

This is a Maharishi ‘Tower of Invincibility.’  I’m not making this up.  Read the sign on the side of it.

Eldon, IA is on the way back so we stopped at the ‘American Gothic House’ as well.  This is the house in the background of the painting ‘American Gothic.’

gothic house

It was a fun trip.  I have a funny feeling we’ll be going that way with more students in future.

those 2 guys

I found a new musical group the other day.  They were recommended to me by a friend.  He told me they did 80’s style love songs with rapping in them.  So I thought, “Hey sounds interesting.”  He was right!  These guys nail the sound well.

Check them out by clicking this link.
