Carl (a buddy of mine) and myself have been working on writing a song  (‘Take All Of Me’) for a little over a week now.  We have the lyrics and the structure of the song done.  Over the past few days they lyrics have been running through my head like crazy.  It’s a prayer from someone who is struggling with where they are at with their walk or with an addiction and they are crying out.  If we are honest we’ve all been there at one point or another.

We wanted the second chorus to talk about attributes of God’s power and the fact that he is more than enough for us even in our darkest times.  We thought we should throw in a bridge to brak the song down into something softer.  After trying a few things we were stuck on the word ‘hallelujah.’  We just started singing it over and over again and we need we had the bridge.  It fits really well into the story line or prayer of the song.  You go from being stuck in a sin pattern crying out to God to save you from it to relief and awe of God for the fact that he does rescue us when we are repentant and submit to him.

We think the lyrics and the story line are pretty amazing.

Verse 1: Offering all of me/ My God I surrender/ Giving way to You/ Help me see truth/ Truth brings light/ To this darkened heart of mine

Chorus 1: Come and rescue me/ Break these walls/ Set me free/ Here I am, on my knees/ Letting go, take all of me

Verse 2: You meet me/ With arms open wide You run/ To hold me, You show me Your love/ I fall into Your arms, You welcome me home again

Chorus 1: Come and rescue me/ Break these walls/ Set me free/ Here I am, on my knees/ Letting go, take all of me

Bridge: Hal—-le—lu—-jah (repeat 8x’s)

Chorus 2: You are powerful/ You are wise/ Sufficient for me/ You know all things/ To You we sing

Chorus 1: Come and rescue me/ Break these walls/ Set me free/ Here I am, on my knees/ Letting go, take all of me (repeat and fade out)
