This week we have the Caring For The Heart Conference with John Regier here.  It has been really good so far.  You can read about Sunday and Monday here.  On Tuesday he talked about overcoming depression and sexual abuse.  It was really good.  He is talking a lot about coming to freedom with sin issues or emotional issues in your life.  Honestly it makes sense how he’s talking about it.

Last night he talked about ‘moral failure’ and how to overcome it.  I think last night was the best so far.  He had a lot of great things to say about moral failure.  I learned some things about pre-marital sex that I hadn’t thought of before.  For example when you are involved premaritaly it teaches you how to ave sex with guilt which later on makes it easier to have an affair when you’re married.  If you think about it – it makes a lot of sense.  Sex was created by God for marriage.  When you engage in it outside of marriage it produces guilt and after a while you get use to having sex with guilt.  I had never looked at it that way before but it makes sense I think.  Pre-marital sex also produces 11 things between you and your significant other;

  • lack of fulfillment
  • inability to respnd physically in marriage
  • financial loss
  • loss of communication
  • distrust/ dishonesty
  • lack of respect for each other
  • lack of sympathy
  • rejection by one another
  • conflict with one another
  • blame
  • guilt

To wrap it up John talked about ‘Characteristics of a Person Who is Immorally Impure.’  He said that you should never date someone with one of these 6 characteristics becuase these are indicators that the person isn’t pure morally;

  • no convictions on God’s Word
  • does not keep promises
  • lack wisdom and understanding
  • rebellious or stubborn
  • like to be away from home (always working or out)
  • uses flattering statements (all of the time – always handing out compliments)

Tonight is the last night of the conference.  I’m not sure what John is teaching on tonight but I am looking forward to it.
